Free Book Giveaway and Administrative News!

Find out how you can win three of the most inspiring books I’ve read over the past year and important administrative news regarding the future of PracticalPremed.

I’ve accepted a writing position at College Info Geek.

I’m happy to announce that I will now be a contributing writer for College Info Geek, an up and coming college blog that looks much more snazzy than mine. The website is run by Thomas Frank, who I featured in my post about independent projects. Already doing big things, the site recently gave away a free copy of Adobe’s Master Suite Collection, which runs around 2k for retail price. After writing about the dual subjects of college productivity and premed life on this blog, I plan to write my posts on productivtity for College Info Geek. Which leads me to say…

I will continue to write for PracticalPremed.

Over the next few weeks I will be revamping the design and focus of this website to reflect my experience with applying to medical school. I will attempt to cover everything from writing a personal statement, to picking schools, filling out secondaries, and interviews as the year rolls along. Schoolwork and filling out medical applications have prevented me from posting as often as I would like over the past few weeks, but expect to see a lot more posts starting this summer. Feel free to share my website with anyone you know who might be a premed, I’d love to hear from others going through the process.

I want to thank everyone who has been reading PracticalPremed over the past few months. It’s been an amazing experience meeting and interacting with like-minded college students and I can’t wait for this next step in my fledgling blogging career. As a way of saying thanks I wanted to run a giveaway…

I’ve giving away three books:

These three books have been incredibly influential to my work and are perfect summer material for anyone looking to find some inspiration and guidance. I can’t stress enough how much these books can shape your life; you want to win these books.

There are three simple ways to enter the drawing:

  1. Leave a comment on this post
  2. Send me a tweet (@PracticalPremed)
  3. “Like” PracticalPremed on Facebook and leave a comment on the wall

In your comment or tweet please let me know what you’d like to see from my writing in the future OR what your favorite post has been so far, either for PracticalPremed or College Info Geek.

Rest assured, you only need to enter ONE of these ways, but I do take into account “bonus points” for those who spread the word of this contest via a Tweet =)

This contest will end on June 21st at 11:55pm. I will chose a winner and send the lucky person the books via Amazon.

Good luck!

Hi there! I found your blog via College Info Geek, and I love it! I've been going through it since last night, and I've been mentally bookmarking all of the study tips you suggest. I'm an entering freshman at Wayne State University, and I'm hoping to go pre-med -- needless to say, your blog has so much valuable information!

As for my favorite posts, I thought the Pomodoro technique was really interesting -- I'm definitely planning to try it next year! (a site-blocking option you could probably use customized for different time lengths is called "Self Control" and it works on Safari as well, not just Google Chrome).

I really enjoyed reading the 80/20 post. I tend to be one of those people that don't go to lecture, opting for sleep instead. I then slave over the material until test day, losing sleep in the process, and thus continuing the never-ending cycle. I could use one of these books to help fix that :D

To be completely honest, I was just showing my support as a good friend and started reading this blog. As a rising avid reader of practical premed, it's incredible to see how much my mindset has changed on school, productivity, and life (as cliché as it may seem) in general. I would also like to testify that I am not a premed major, but rather a Finance, Marketing, and International Business major minoring in Economics, portraying the universality of this blog. Great work Ry - I'm proud of you buddy.

Book me.

Thanks for all the entries so far! Drawing will be tomorrow night.

I just randomly found your blog and I'm so glad I did! I've read a lot of the posts and I must say, thank you for the amazing resource! Also, thanks for the book titles, I've been looking for something along the same lines for quite a while.

I am just leaving this comment to get those books!

Would love to win those books! Thanks!

CollegeInfoGeek is a (really interesting) blog I've discovered not so long ago, and yours looks like I'm going to have to read it all too!
I even applied the "How to Kill Your Newsfeed and Reclaim Your Facebook" method as soon as I read it.

Gotta love free, I'm game! Oh, and, one of my favorite post (College Info Geek) has to be the Top 10 Reasons to Study Aboard...

Need need need these books! Thank you!

Congrats on joining CollegeInfoGeek - They have some great content...and TFrank is pretty awesome!
If you ever wana guest post, check out blog.webgreek.com & email me ...

Oh yea btw...I'd love to win one of those books!! Great idea for promoting your SM pages & getting more followship! Cheers

I don't know if you're asking preference, but I'd love to get 80/20! Thanks

College Info Geek is a great site, and you'll only improve what it has to offer. I approve of this decision.

Free books ftw! Thanks for the opportunity.

Glad to see you're with College Info Geek now. They're one of my favorite blogs. Your content fits well with them. Good luck!

Thank you so much! It really means a lot to hear that! :)
